What does Sikhi say about the Darwins theory does it believe in the concept of how the human came to the world?
I came to know that Sikhi says:
pehilaa paanee jeeo hai jith hariaa sabh koe ||
“First, there is life in the water, by which everything else is made green.”
But does the Sikhi reject Darwins theory? Sikhi favours Darwin’s theory which is based on natural selection, struggle for existence and survival of the fittest. Guru ji explains all these points in Gurbani.
First of all, as you say, gases were created and then water was created from gases and it laid foundation for life. This is in line with science. However, gases after Big Bang were created in a moment as Gurbani states (in 10-37 of a second). Then water and then very simple life followed by complex life.
The following hymn of Gurbani states that we remained rocks and mountains for many generations ‘keI jnm sYl igir kirAw ] kee junum sail gir kariaa In so many incarnations, you were rocks and mountains;’ . Clearly, we started our journey from non-living things. Then we became like a filament of DNA. Then a simple one celled bacteria and then multicellular being. Then we became higher beings passing through various forms of life. Ultimately we became human beings. Read the following hymn. During the process of evolution we struggled for survival and only fit continued (fit means that could procreate and pass genes to next generation). Bigger things eat smaller things and smaller things eat very small things. This is competition and struggle for existence. The fit survives and continues its progeny. Unfit is selected against and it perishes. This means survival of the fit and selection for fitness is under the Will of God. Only those are selected that God wishes to be selected and survived. This means the process of evolution is guided by God because He is within His creation as ‘sB mih joiq joiq hY soie ] subh mehi joth joth hai soe Amongst all is the Light-You are that Light.’ So evolution and Darwin’s theory are supported by Sikhi but remember science does not know who guides this evolution. Scientists believe in randomness but Sikhi rejects randomness and believes in the role of God in evolution.
